Being a Watercolour Artist I've always enjoy the challenge of painting out of doors. I feel this is the only way to make a true connection with the subject and at the same time improve as an Artist. I am based in Chippenham, Wiltshire but also enjoy painting in the many locations the UK has to offer.
Here I'm painting a 'Jumble of Boats' at Pinmill in Suffolk
You can't see from the photograph but I happen to be up to my ankles in mud. Such are the hazards of painting on site!........and that's not to mention some of the the difficult weather conditions one can encounter in the UK.
Although a perfectly good painting can be made in the studio from sketches/photographs, my preferred way is with my easel out of doors.
